A business offering drive-thru, 10-minute oil changes during which drivers stay in their cars opened in Crystal Lake, according to a news release from the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce.
Take 5 Oil Change, located at 487 W. Virginia St., is the second business owned by the Welms Group, the first Take 5 franchisee in Illinois where now 14 other towns have locations, according to the Chamber and the Take 5 website.
Three additional Chicago-area locations are in the works to open in the next four months.
“When we were looking for a business to start, we were immediately drawn to the Take 5 model and its emphasis on serving the local community – both in the way the stores operate and in making sure that we hire local people who enjoy interacting with customers,” said Mark Madigan, Take 5 Oil Change owner and Welms Group co-founder.
The Crystal Lake store manager, Bob Schultz, grew up and attended grade school and high school in the community, Madigan said.
Take 5′s business model is similar to a racing pit crew concept, during which the driver pulls in and is surrounded by a team that takes care of the car’s oil and fluid needs, according to the release.
Appointments are not needed, and customers can bring whatever they need, including children, pets or laptops.
The store is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p .m. Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, according to the company’s website.
