Brake Parts named business philanthropist of year by McHenry County foundation

Brake Parts of McHenry was named the 2021 business philanthropist of the year by the Community Foundation for McHenry County to mark National Philanthropy Day on Monday.

The award was developed to honor a local business that demonstrates “outstanding charitable responsibility and whose generosity encourages others to take philanthropic leadership roles,” the Community Foundation for McHenry County said in a news release.

“The generosity of businesses like Brake Parts Inc. is helping McHenry County develop a strong local economy, a high quality of life and abundant leadership opportunities,” said Tamara Marshall, who is board chairman of the Community Foundation for McHenry County and is also a partner at Zanck, Coen, Wright & Saladin.

Brake Parts has “a long-running tradition of community involvement and participation in McHenry County,” said Scott Wallace, the company’s executive vice president.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has shown the importance of community-based initiatives, particularly as it relates to addressing housing instability, food insecurity, and other key social services” Wallace said in a statement. “[Brake Parts] is proud to partner with The Foundation to help support the cases that matter most in our community.”
