Jacobs graduate Cameron Krutwig now has his own bobblehead

Former Jacobs basketball player Cameron Krutwig was a big thing in the McHenry County area when he was 2017 Northwest Herald Player of the Year and led the Golden Eagles to a 30-2 record.

He was big the next year at Loyola when the 6-foot-9 freshman center helped the Ramblers to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament.

But now Krutwig, who plays professionally in Belgium, has really hit it big – he has a bobblehead.

The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled its limited-edition Cameron Krutwig bobblehead this week. The bobblehead costs $30 and comes out just as the No. 10-seeded Ramblers prepare to take on No. 7 Ohio State in their NCAA Tournament opener.

Krutwig, who now plays for Telenet Giants Antwerp in the BNXT League, helped the Ramblers back to the Sweet 16 last season when they knocked off No. 1 seed Illinois in the second round.

Krutwig finished his Loyola career in an elite group of Missouri Valley Conference players who scored more than 1,500 points, had 800 rebounds and 300 assists in their careers. The others to do so were Cincinnati’s Oscar Robertson, Indiana State’s Larry Bird and Bradley’s Hersey Hawkins.

On the bobblehead, Krutwig is wearing the maroon Loyola jersey No. 25 and has his fists clenched after scoring a basket. The bobblehead has him with a mustache, which he had during his senior season.

Krutwig averaged 13.7 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists for his career. He joins 102-year-old Sister Jean, Loyola’s No. 1 fan and men’s basketball team chaplain, in now having a bobblehead.

“We are excited to release this bobblehead featuring Cameron Krutwig,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “In his four seasons with Loyola, Cameron was one of the most productive players in Missouri Valley Conference history and universally loved by the Loyola faithful. We think Ramblers fans will love this new bobblehead and enjoy adding it next to Sister Jean in their growing bobblehead collection.”
