Former Burlington Central star Drew Scharnowski announced over the weekend his commitment to Duke from the transfer portal. Scharnowski spent the previous three seasons at Belmont.

Toussaints brought heat to McHenry County hoops this winter. Johnsburg coach Mike Toussaint is the Northwest Herald Boys Basketball Coach of the Year after leading the Skyhawks to a sectional title. His nephew Trey shined at guard. Nieces Summer and Skye starred for the girls.

Crystal Lake South junior Carson Trivellini already has won five regional titles in baseball and basketball but isn't satisfied. The guard averaged 18.1 points this season in leading South to a sectional final. He is the 2026 Northwest Herald Boys Basketball Player of the Year.

Elijah and Malachi Bell are on the move after earning All-Fox Valley Conference honors for Jacobs' basketball team this winter. The brothers plan to transfer to Marian Central, where they will play for their dad, Lafeyette, who's the boys head coach.

Woodstock junior basketball player Max Beard announced this week that he will be transferring to Darrow School in New York. The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 16 points and 6 rebounds a game this season in leading the Blue Streaks to the Kishwaukee River Conference championship.

Ten McHenry County basketball players, six girls and four boys, received IBCA All-State honors for the 2025-26 season. Johnsburg's Summer Toussaint received first-team honors in Class 2A.
