Huntley wrestling clinches at least share of FVC title with win over Crystal Lake South

Huntley won at least a share of the Fox Valley Conference title with its 60-18 win over Crystal Lake South on Wednesday night at home.

Adam Pena (120 pounds), Jake Jensen (126), Sam Henkle (132), Zack Rogala (138), Alessio Pezzela (145) and Alex Limonciello (160) all won by pin. Zach Hornickel (106), Kelly Gassner (170), Ben Wiley (195) and Tyler Cerny (220) all won by forfeit.

The Red Raiders will have a chance to win the outright conference title if they defeat Crystal Lake Central at home on Thursday night.

Woodstock 60, Woodstock North 16: At Woodstock, the Blue Streaks finished off conference play with a win over the Thunder.

Gavin Loiselle (285), Daniel Bychowski (113), Caleb Sciame (126), Max Hodory (132), Travis Cote (138) and Alex Iversen (152) all won by pin. Tim Hunt won at 160.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Grayslake Central 71, Marian Central 53: At Woodstock, the Hurricanes couldn’t keep up with the Rams at home.

Christian Bentancur led the way for Marian Central with 19 points, while Michael Morris added 13.

Winnebago 63, Marengo 52: At Marengo, the Indians dropped a nonconference game at home.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Prairie Ridge 53, McHenry 32: At Crystal Lake, the Wolves won their 13th straight game and reached 20 wins for the season.

Abby Kay led the way for Prairie Ridge (20-3, 9-2 FVC) with 20 points while Karsen Karlblom added 16 and Kelly Gende scored 14.

Alyssa Franklin led the way for McHenry (9-15, 2-9) with 20 points.

Burlington Central 62, Dundee-Crown 13: At Carpentersville, the Rockets won their fourth straight game with a win over the Chargers.

Taylor Charles scored 12 points, grabbed nine rebounds and had six blocks and four assists for Burlington (15-7, 9-1 FVC). Page Erickson added 12 points while Sam Origel tallied 10.

Kendall Brents led the way for D-C (2-18, 0-11) with five points.

Cary-Grove 45, Hampshire 35: At Cary, the Trojans won their second straight game with a win at home.

Emily Lukowski led the way for C-G (14-7, 7-4 FVC) with 16 points, while Annika Nordin added 11 and Avery Nielsen scored nine.

Hampshire’s (8-15, 3-8) Ashley Herzing led all scorers with 19 points.

Huntley 33, Jacobs 19: At Algonquin, the Red Raiders rebounded their loss to Sycamore on Monday with a win over the Golden Eagles.

Jessie Ozzauto had eight points and two 3s for Huntley (13-6, 9-1 FVC), and Morgan McCaughn and Sammi Campanelli had seven points apiece. Mackenzie Leahy scored eight points for Jacobs (12-12, 6-5).

Benet 50, Marian Central 24: At Lisle, the Hurricanes lost their sixth straight game.

Madison Kenyon led the way for Marian Central with 12 points.

BOYS SWIMMING AND DIVING

Huntley 120, Woodstock North 31: At Woodstock, Huntley picked up a nonconference win against Woodstock North.

Huntley’s Dominic Siwiec won the 200-yard individual medley and 500 freestyle and was part of the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays. Max Van Doran won both the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke and was part of the 400 and 200 freestyle relays.

GIRLS BOWLING

Huntley 2,658, Woodstock North 2,312: At J’s Lanes in Harvard, the Red Raiders picked up a road victory over the Thunder.
