High school sports roundup for Friday, Feb. 19

Dundee-Crown senior Gianine Boado poured in a career-high 32 points to lead the Chargers (3-2, 2-2) to a 47-45 Fox Valley Conference girls basketball win over Crystal Lake Central on Friday night in Carpentersville.

Paige Keller supplied Central (3-1, 3-1), which suffered its first loss of the season, with 21 points. Katie Hamill added 14 points.

Cary-Grove 49, Prairie Ridge 45: At Crystal Lake, Emily Lukowski scored 19 points, and Lauren Passaglia provided 15 points to help the Trojans (3-1, 3-1) hold off the Wolves (2-2, 2-2) in FVC action.

Prairie Ridge’s Karsen Karlblom led all scorers with 26 points on the strength of six 3-pointers.

Crystal Lake South 45, McHenry 39: At Crystal Lake, Kree Nunnally was one rebound shy of a double-double in the Gators’ FVC victory.

Nunnally piled up 19 points and nine rebounds for South (2-2). Hanna Massie supplied seven points, and Brooke Kuffel added six points and 10 rebounds.

Ashley Wachter hit three 3-pointers and led the Warriors (1-4, 1-3) with nine points. Alyssa Franklin scored eight points, and Adriana Gerstung had seven points.

Burlington Central 54, Hampshire 27: At Hampshire, the Rockets picked up the FVC victory and remained perfect on the season.

Taylor Charles registered a double-double for Burlington (6-0, 4-0) with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Elana Wells added 11 points, and Becca Carani scored eight.

Jessica Dumoulin topped Hampshire (0-5, 0-4) with 12 points.

Huntley 58, Jacobs 28: At Huntley, Raquel Radermacher supplied 10 points and Jessie Ozzauto added nine in the FVC win for the Red Raiders (3-1, 3-1).

Janaya Banks provided the Golden Eagles (0-4, 0-4) with six points. Paige Anderson, Mackenzie Leahy and Arianna Corrado added five points apiece.

Marengo 58, Harvard 7: At Marengo, the Indians cruised in Kishwaukee River Conference play.

Jennifer Heinberg drained four 3s on her way to a game-high 17 points. Addie Johnson supplied Marengo (4-0, 4-0) with 14 points, and Lilly Johnson scored nine.

Johnsburg 41, Woodstock 26: At Johnsburg, the host Skyhawks (2-2, 2-2) picked up the KRC victory.

Macy Madsen totaled 13 points in the win, Molly Wetzel scored nine, and Kaylee Fouke had eight points.

Jania Lejman had eight points, and Theresa Presisto and Natalie Morrow each scored six points for Woodstock (1-3, 1-3).

Woodstock North 51, Richmond-Burton 28: At Richmond, Lacey Schaffter provided 12 points, and Allison Goers scored 11 to keep the Thunder (4-0, 4-0 KRC) unbeaten on the season.

The Rockets (1-3, 1-3) received 11 points from Rachel Baker and six from Jesse Klicker.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Cary-Grove 54, Prairie Ridge 47: At Cary, Mike Clarke and Drew Sepeczi each scored 13 points to lead the Trojans (4-1, 3-1) past the Wolves (3-1, 3-1) in their FVC game.

Sepeczi got C-G off to a quick start with three 3s in the first quarter. Ryan Weaver added 10 for the Trojans.

Taidhgin Trost led the Wolves with 13 points, James Muse had 11.

Woodstock North 57, Richmond-Burton 39: At Woodstock, the Thunder (3-1, 3-1) handed the Rockets (3-1, 3-1) their first loss of the season in KRC play.

Justin Ortiz paced North with 15 points, Christian Soto had 12 points, and Gabriel Filetti scored 10.

Trent Turner topped R-B with eight points, while Jacob Barthel, Nick Legnaioli and Blake Volkmar each chipped in six points.

Marengo 64, Harvard 33: At Harvard, a breakaway dunk pushed junior Matthew Volkening passed the 1,000-point career mark during the Indians’ KRC win.

Volkening accounted for a little more than half of the scoring for unbeaten Marengo (4-0, 4-0) with 33 points. Jonah Pace added nine points.

Austin Kohley and Lee Galarza each scored six points for Harvard (0-4, 0-4).

Johnsburg 83, Woodstock 54: At Woodstock, Josh Notriano hit seven 3s and scored 27 points to lead the Skyhawks (3-2, 2-2) past the Blue Streaks (0-4, 0-4) in their KRC game.

Dylan Schmidt scored 16 for Johnsburg and Ian Boal added 11.

Mateo Alcazar led Woodstock (0-5, 0-4) with 13 points. Max Barnett and Jay Patel each scored nine.

Benet 58, Marian Central 24: At Woodstock, freshman Christian Bentancur scored 12 points as the Hurricanes (0-5, 0-3) fell to the Redwings in their East Suburban Catholic Conference game.

BOYS SWIMMING

Huntley 3,243, Woodstock North co-op 2,378: The Red Raiders won the virtual meet, bowling in their home house at Bowl Hi Lanes, while Woodstock competed at Kingston Lanes.

Huntley came out of the gate with a five-man team score of 1,189 and never looked back. Huntley was led by Nicholas Zummo, who fired a 289 in Game 1 and tallied a 721 series.

Woodstock was led by Woodstock North sophomore Brady Caldwell, who shot a team-high 231 in the opening game and led the squad with a 588 series. Woodstock North sophomore Tyler Fink capped his series with a season-best 202 in Game 3 on his way to a 503 series. Woodstock juniors Jacob Piquette and Seth Rowe along with Woodstock North sophomore Tyler Fink accounted for a combined pin fall of 1,287 to round out Woodstock’s team series.
