Lake in the Hills crash involving semi leads to road closure

emergency lights

A semitruck crashed into a pole Monday morning in Lake in the Hills, leading to a multi-hour road closure.

Pyott Road was closed in both directions between Algonquin Road and Jessie Road due to the crash, according to a Lake in the Hills police Nixle alert issued about 11 a.m.

A follow-up alert sent about 3:20 p.m. advised that Pyott Road was reopened in both directions.

The crash involved a single vehicle, Lake in the Hills Police Department Public Information Officer Amanda Schmitt said. The semitruck was southbound on Pyott Road when it drove into a utility pole.

The semitruck was towed, she said, and ComEd was able to fix the downed wires. The driver received a citation, Schmitt said.

One person was evaluated but not taken to the hospital, Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Matt Berg said.
