Peru Menards open after overnight roof fire

Firefighters extinguished the fire in about 15 minutes

Despite a roof fire Sunday morning at the Menards in Peru, the store was open for business Sunday.

Peru firefighters responded after midnight to flames on the roof of the Route 251 store. Firefighters from La Salle, Utica and Spring Valley assisted Peru at the scene.

The fire was extinguished in about 15 minutes and limited to a specific area of the roof. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
