2021 NewsTribune Boys Cross Country All-Area Team

Matt Beard, La Salle-Peru: The senior had a stellar end to his career. He placed 11th at the Class 2A La Salle-Peru Regional, finished 20th at the Metamora Sectional and ran a personal best 16:20 to finish 122nd at the state meet. During the regular season, he placed top 10 at the La Salle County Meet and the Princeton and Bureau Valley invitationals.

Ian Eller, Amboy-LaMoille-Ohio: Eller placed third at the Rock Falls and Kewanee invitationals and finished top 10 in the Princeton, Amboy and Seneca invitationals. In the postseason, he had individual success while also helping the Clippers to a team state berth. He placed fourth in the Class 1A St. Bede Regional, ninth at the Oregon Sectional and 90th at state.

Ryan Hartman, La Salle-Peru: The senior put together another strong season. He won the La Salle County Meet and had top five finishes at the Morris, Princeton and El Paso-Gridley invitationals. Hartman placed ninth at the Class 2A L-P Regional, 14th at the Metamora Sectional and 128th at state in a 3-mile season best of 16:22.

Elijah House, Bureau Valley: House was consistent throughout the season, placing top five at the Kewanee and Erie-Prophetstown invitationals and top 10 at the Princeton and Elmwood invitationals and the Three Rivers Conference Meet. House placed fifth at the Class 1A St. Bede Regional, 25th at the Oregon Sectional and 156th at state.

Brock Loftus, Amboy-LaMoille-Ohio: Loftus was near the top of every race he ran this season. He won the Princeton and Kewanee invitationals and was top five at the Amboy, Rock Falls, Seneca, Bureau Valley, Erie-Prophetstown and Peoria Heights invitationals. In the postseason, Loftus won the Class 1A St. Bede Regional and the Oregon Sectional, helping the Clippers to a team state berth. At state, he placed 26th.

Kyler McNinch

Kyler McNinch, Amboy-LaMoille-Ohio: McNinch played a key role in helping the Clippers advance to state as a team for the first time. He was runner-up at the Class 1A St. Bede Regional and placed seventh at the Oregon Sectional. McNinch ran a personal best 16:24 to finish 82nd at state. He was top 10 at the Amboy, Erie-Prophetstown and Rock Falls invitationals.

Mason Stoeger, Fieldcrest: The NewsTribune Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year dominated all season, winning eight races, including the Amboy, Bureau Valley, Morris and Elmwood invitationals and the Heart of Illinois Conference Meet. Stoeger won the Class 1A Eureka Regional, took second in the Elmwood Sectional and placed seventh at the state meet in 14:58.6.
