Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp release 2022 schedule, home opener June 2

The Prospect League and the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp have released the Peru-based summer collegiate wooden bat team’s schedule for the 2022 season.

The Pistol Shrimp will open the season on the road at the Danville Dans on Wednesday, June 1, then return to Veterans Memorial Park for their home opener Thursday, June 2, against Terre Haute REX.

The Pistol Shrimp — who relocated from DuPage last season and were a popular attraction for area baseball fans last summer — will play most days from the June 1 opener through the Aug. 6 regular-season finale. Notable home stands include five games between June 12-17, a four-game home stand spanning July 15-19 and the final regular-season home contests Thursday, Aug. 4, and Friday, Aug. 5.

The regular season includes 60 games on 59 dates, with a July 29 doubleheader scheduled at the nearby Normal CornBelters.
