Pistol Shrimp surrender late lead, lose to Danville Dans

The Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp suffered a 7-6 walkoff loss to the Danville Dans on Sunday in Danville.

The Shrimp led, 6-4, heading into the ninth inning before the Dans scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth to pull out the win.

Illinois Valley scored three runs in the top of the first inning and added three more in the top of the third to build a 6-1 lead.

Colton Coca went 2 for 5 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored for Illinois Valley.

Jack Feely took the loss in relief, allowing three runs on two hits with two strikeouts and a walk in 1 2/3 innings.

The Pistol Shrimp (5-12) return to action against the Quincy Gems on Tuesday at Veterans Park in Peru for First Responder Appreciation Night.

Andy Nelson hit a three-run home run and belted a two-run double as the Pistol Shrimp earned a win at Veterans Park in Peru.

The Shrimp scored 10 runs across the sixth, seventh and eighth innings.

Dom Souto blasted a solo home run and finished with two RBIs for Illinois Valley.

Jason Shanner picked up the win in relief. He gave up three runs [two earned] on four hits with six strikeouts and a pair of walks in 3 2/3 innings.

Connor Sullivan started the game, allowing one run on three hits while striking out five batters and walking three in 5 1/3 innings.
