Sixteen-year-old Ottawa High School student Landon McAlpine is fighting stage four colon cancer and his family is asking for help in any way people can.

Ottawa High School is raising money with T-shirt sales that say “In Pirate Nation, no one fights alone. Strength for Landon.” These can be purchased at https://ohsstrengthforlandon.itemorder.com/shop/sale/.

McAlpine was sent home from school on Dec. 10 with chills and a slight fever, spending three days sick with flu-like symptoms. COVID-19 tests came back negative, and he’d felt fine for a few days according to a recent Facebook post.

His mother, Raven, said in the post this went on for about 15 days before going to the emergency room in Ottawa on Christmas. Illness continued until additional tests showed Landon had stage four colon cancer, rare for someone his age.

Landon is a junior in high school and spends his time outside of school on the school’s bowling team and working part-time.

A GoFundMe has been set up for Landon by his uncle, Shawn Thompson at https://www.gofundme.com/f/my-nephew-landon-diagnosed-with-stage4-cancer.

Landon has been in the hospital for multiple surgeries since his diagnosis and he is recovering from the latest procedure. To follow Landon’s fight with cancer go to https://www.facebook.com/wontstopfighting5
