Ottawa boys bowlers drop I-8 match against visiting Sycamore

The Sandwich boys basketball team defeated visiting Serena, 71-67, for its first win of the season.

Owen Sheley had an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double for Sandwich (1-7). Theo Arnold added 13 points and nine rebounds, while Evan Gottlieb had 11 points and three assists. Camden Figgins netted 21 points to lead the Huskers (3-6). Hunter Muffler added 13 points, Tanner Faivre 11 points and Braxton Hart nine points, seven rebounds and five assists.

BOYS BOWLING

Sycamore 3,339, Ottawa 3,108: At Dettore’s Town Lanes, the Pirates fell in the Interstate Eight match to the Spartans. Ottawa’s Nelson Brandt led all bowlers with a 616 series and a 225 high game. Landon McAlpine added a 559 series and a 218 high game.

GIRLS BOWLING

Sycamore 2,799, Ottawa 2,323: At Mardi Gras Lanes in Sycamore on Tuesday, the Pirates fell in the Interstate Eight Conference match to the Spartans. McKenzie Lewis paced Ottawa with a 463 series and high game of 182. Jazzmyn DeFord contributed a high game of 151.

GIRLS JV/SOPHOMORE BASKETBALL

Marquette 24, Putnam County 13: At Bader Gym in Ottawa, the Crusaders grabbed a 14-5 halftime lead and cruised to the Tri-County Conference win.

Chloe Larson and Makayla Backos led MA with eight points each, while tops for the Panthers was Megan Wasilewski with four.

BOYS JV/SOPHOMORE BOWLING

Ottawa 2,329, Sycamore 2,015: At Dettore’s Town Lanes, the Corsairs topped the Spartans with Nolan Alexander’s 480 series and 177 high game leading the way.

FRESHMAN BOYS BASKETBALL

Sycamore 46, Ottawa 35: At Sycamore on Tuesday, the Vikings were led by eight points from Evan Snook and seven points from Jackson Cooper in the road loss to the Spartans.
