Hinsdale South junior Callie Carr capped off a 39-0 season Saturday with her first state championship, while Montini senior Kat Bell and Glenbard East junior Nadiia Shymkiv took second in their respective brackets.

Izzy Paz got pinned twice a year ago during regionals in her first season wrestling at Wheaton North. On Saturday, she became a regional champion, pinning her first two challengers before earning a 12-1 major decision against Schaumburg’s Mia Phelps.

St. Charles East wrestling enjoyed plenty of success in a dual against Wheaton North Thursday. The girls team earned six consecutive falls to win 48-6 in the Saints' first ever home meet, while the boys had nine bonus-point victories to secure a 63-10 win.
