GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD
West Suburban Gold meet
Downers Grove South scored 189 points to take the West Suburban Gold track and field championship, with Willowbrook (161) second.
Downers Grove South event winners included Sophia McNerney in the 800 (2:20.04) and 1,600 (5:11.77), Kelsey Casella in the 3,200 (11:27.96), the 1,600 relay (4:14.33), the 3,200 relay (10:14.89), Na’Kiyah Robertson in the shot put (11.26 meters), Aamari Taylor in the high jump (5-2) and triple jump (9.92 meters).
Willowbrook firsts included Daylee Braden in the 100 (12.72), 200 (25.92) and 400 (59.25), Sarah Ball in the 300 hurdles (51.15), the 400 relay (51.04), the 800 relay (1:50.61) and Jarelly Carillo in the discus (29.60).
Morton’s Lisette Heredia won the pole vault (9-7).
GIRLS SOCCER
Benet 3, Marist 0
Jaimee Cibulka scored two goals and Brooke Pullen added one, as the Redwings (15-0, 7-0 East Suburban Catholic Conference) completed an undefeated regular season. Paige Neri had two assists and Brinkley Douglas one for Benet. Shannon Clark had five saves in goal.
SOFTBALL
Wheaton Warrenville South 9, Glenbard North 0
Katey Pierce struck out 13 in a complete-game three-hitter, the Tigers’ defense turned two double plays and WW South scored three runs in the first inning and six in the third to celebrate Senior Night. Katie Jensen had a double and two RBIs and Emma Schusler a double, two RBIs and run scored.
Lemont 10, TF South 0
Maddy Wallace struck out eight over four innings, allowing two hits, and went 3-for-3 with two triples and three runs batted in at the plate for Lemont (23-3, 18-0). Emma Kucharski went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored and Sage Mardjetko 2-for-2 with two runs scored.
Montini 7, Providence 4
Brooke Kuczynski homered and drove in two runs, Amanda Wozniak went 4-for-4 with two RBIs and Kora Navarro scored twice while picking up the win in the circle for Montini.
Willowbrook 4, Hinsdale Central 2
Caroline Dooley struck out seven and scattered six hits, and Kayla Neff homered, drove in two runs and scored a run for Willowbrook.
BASEBALL
Montini 5, Fenwick 1
Max Kasallis threw a complete game, the defense turned two double plays and the Broncos (18-7) ran their win streak to 13 straight games. Jack Angus, Antoine Harris, Patrick Wind and Estevan Moreno doubles and Montini scored all five of its runs in the second inning.
