DuPage County COVID-19 case numbers decrease as 245 new infections reported Friday, 8 deaths

The DuPage County Health Department on Friday reported 245 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with 8 deaths: 2 women in their 60s, 1 woman in her 80s, 2 men in their 80s, 2 women in their 90s and 1 woman in her 100s.

The county now has seen a total of 57,310 coronavirus cases including 911 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of Dec. 22 was 97.7%.

By town, Wheaton has had 3,054 total cases, Glen Ellyn 2,159, Lombard 2,955, Villa Park 1,780, Hinsdale 858, Westmont 1,406, Darien 1,126, Woodridge 1,784, Downers Grove 2,547, Elmhurst 2,931, Warrenville 913 and Winfield 734. Addison has had 3,656 confirmed cases, Naperville 4,889, Carol Stream 3,111 and West Chicago 3,210.

The health department provides further information on its data dashboard for COVID-19-related hospitalizations, deaths, lab positivity and outbreak-associated counts by municipality. This additional information replaces the information that was previously provided daily in this format.
