Morris City Council recap: 4 new businesses approved, mayor recognizes Morris Warriors Football team

The Morris City Council approved licensing for four new businesses Monday night.

Kevin Orf, will be operating Sweet Tooth, a confectionery business. Lucrese Gomez will open Resilience Home Health Corp. to operate a home health business. Bradly Walls will open A&B Solutions to operate an ecommerce business. Micheal Goffinet will run Silver Lining Restaurants.

Mayor Chris Brown announced the Morris Retail Association will host its annual Winterfest Market from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec 12, on the 200 and 300 blocks of Liberty Street.

“Get out and support the downtown, we opened the ice skating rink this last weekend. This is a great opportunity to get outside and support the community,” stated Brown.

Morris Warriors Superlight team is recognized at the Monday's city council meeting.

The Morris Warriors Football Association had two football teams bring home the championship trophies this season. The superlight and varsity teams both won Illinois 8 Youth Tackle League Super Bowl championships.

" I would like to welcome all the Warriors fans, family and little kids and congratulate you on your superbowl win,” Brown said. He then read the proclamation for the superlight and varsity teams.

Morris Warriors Varsity team is recognized at the Monday's city council meeting.

Parents, fans and coaches attended the ceremony to take pictures and celebrate the hard work of both teams.
