Art league offers painting classes in October

Kishwaukee Valley Art League will offer watercolor painting classes during the month of October.

A beginning watercolor class will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, and an intermediate watercolor class will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23. Cost for each class is $50 and they will be held at Gallery on State, 322 W. State in Sycamore.

The classes will be taught by former KVAL President Larry Bond, a signature member of the Illinois Watercolor Society. Registration forms are available at the gallery or online at kval-nfp.org. A materials list will be provided upon registration.

Bond has won several awards for his watercolor work and was accepted into the San Diego Watercolor Society’s International Watercolor Show. Bond also is KVAL’s featured artist, and his work is on display in the front window of Gallery on State.

KVAL members are donating new art supplies as part of the Art of Giving portion of the organization’s philantropy program. Paints, canvases, brushes, markers, pens and sketch pads will be donated to six charity organizations in Sycamore and DeKalb. The public is invited to donate new art supplies as well, and they can be dropped off at Gallery on State.

KVAL will honor six local art students from Sycamore and DeKalb high schools and Kishwaukee College at the group’s November meeting. The students will show their work and receive awards from the league. Their respective schools will be given monetary awards to support their art programs as part of KVAL’s philanthropy program.

KVAL is committed to promoting local artists and dedicated to the development of upcoming artists in the Kishwaukee Valley area.
