The Gen. John Stark Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution presented a Community Service Award to Nan Long for her outstanding service to the Hinckley community.
The award recognizes individuals who have contributed to their communities and improved the well-being of their neighbors.
Long was one of four co-founders of the Hinckley Area Food Pantry in 1993 and the only remaining co-founder still active. She retires as the director of HAFP after more than 30 years with the organization. HAFP serves the towns and communities of Big Rock, Hinckley, Maple Park and Waterman.
National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is a nonprofit, nonpolitical, volunteer organization devoted to historic preservation, education and patriotism. Members are able to prove lineage to brave patriots who served our country during the American Revolutionary War.
