Gallery on State ready for busy spring

SYCAMORE – The Kishwaukee Valley Art League is preparing for spring at Gallery On State.

Starting with the Sycamore Downtown Merchant event, Vintage Shop Hop, on March 5-6, KVAL will participate with numerous other shops throughout the region by offering unique gifts and artwork for the public.

On March 15-16, Gallery On State will rotate artwork by KVAL members for its next show offering new pieces with a spring theme. Members also are busy creating new works for the latest “Create With KVAL” challenge, which will focus on “Upcycling.” These pieces will appear in the front window of the gallery soon.

Gallery On State also will participate in the Downtown Merchants Spring Fling event to be held March 19-27. Along with other local merchants, the gallery will contribute to the Golden Easter Egg door prize, which guests can register to win.

KVAL will soon start holding art classes at Gallery On State, and interested parties can sign up to take one or both of the first two sessions. The first class will be Paint Pouring, offered by KVAL member Sharon Saponari, and the second class will be a gourd birdhouse class taught by member Alec Rossiter. For more information and to register for the classes, stop in at Gallery On State, 322 W. State St. in Sycamore.

Applications for the annual Northern Illinois Art Show, to be held June 5-6 on the courthouse lawn in Sycamore, are available at the gallery and online at www.kval-nfp.org. The deadline for interested artists is March 15.

KVAL is committed to promoting local artists and dedicated to the development of upcoming artists in the Kishwaukee Valley area. Hy-Vee and Waste Management are patron members of the organization.
