The City of Yorkville will be hosting two community events this week, one for National Night Out and another for vintage automobiles.

The city’s event for National Night Out, a nationwide police-community relations campaign, takes place Tuesday, Aug. 3 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Beecher Community Park 908 Game Farm Road. Festivities will include a touch-a-truck event, a meet and greet with police officers and super heroes along with music and hot dogs. More information is available here.

The city’s Wednesday, Aug. 4 event has a somewhat different speed, literally. The “Cruise Night” car show takes place from 5 to 8 p.m. at Riverfront Park on 131 E Hydraulic Avenue. Residents can bring their car to the park at the beginning of the event and get a chance to win Best in Show among different car and truck categories.

Pre-registration is not required and day-of registration is free. For more information contact the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department at Recreation@yorkville.il.us.
