The Oswegoland Park District has delayed the annual PrairieFest community celebration this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of holding the festival on the grounds of PrairieFest Park just south of Oswego High School this Father’s Day weekend, the festival will take place at the park over Labor Day weekend in September.
But starting tomorrow, Thursday, June 17 through Sunday, June 20, the park district is hosting the The Summer Carnival as presented by Windy City Amusements at Prairie Point Park off Plainfield Road in Oswego.
According to information posted on the park district’s web page, the carnival will be open Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Unlimited rides specials are as follows: Thursday, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., $25; Friday, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., $30; Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., $25; and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. $25.
The carnival is cash only, but an ATM will be available on the festival grounds and in the carnival area.
In accordance with Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidance, all unvaccinated persons should wear face coverings in crowded settings, especially when youth are present. See CDC guidance for further information.
Sanitizing stations will be located at every ride. All equipment will undergo additional cleaning measures daily.
Park district officials have also reported they are continuing to plan for a full-scale PrairieFest celebration for Labor Day weekend.
Last year’s festival was canceled due to the pandemic.
