Waubonsee welcomes director of library services

Waubonsee Community College welcomes Spencer Brayton to the position of director of library services.

Brayton has been employed at the college since July 2017 as the manager of library services. As manager, Brayton helped lead efforts to create additional study space at the Todd Library on the Sugar Grove Campus and upgrade technology at the libraries at the Aurora Downtown and Aurora Fox Valley campuses. Most recently, Brayton and the library technology team partnered with the information technology department to keep technology resources readily available to students through the COVID-19 pandemic. Before coming to Waubonsee, Brayton was employed at Blackburn College in Carlinville as the director of the learning commons.

Brayton holds a Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master of Science in management from the University of St. Francis. Brayton earned his Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

The college’s board of trustees approved Brayton’s appointment at their Jan. 20 meeting.
