High school sports roundup for Thursday, Jan. 13: KJ Friestad, Kellie Snyder lead Newark past Mendota

KJ Friestad had 12 points, four rebounds and four assists and Kellie Snyder 14 points, nine rebounds and six steals for the Norsemen (10-5). Gwyneth O’Connell chipped in nine points.



The varsity team suffered their first loss of the season on Monday against Minooka. Lani Breedlove had another big night for Oswego, rolling scores of 248, 205, and 210 to finish with a 686 series. Evelyn James put up games of 191, 198, and 206 for a 595 series.

The team bounced back against Romeoville on Tuesday and finished with their best performance of the season. In game one, the Panthers had their highest single game team score of the season, shooting 1,122, to jump out to a big lead early in the match. Solid games of 954 and 1,056 led to Oswego winning big in the match as the team finished with a total of 3,132, which is a team average of 209 for the match. Breedlove led the way with a season high 733 series on games of 269, 227, and 237. Hailey Jourdan (623) and Amber Lymenstull (619) both averaged over 200 for the night as well and Lymenstull’s 619 was a season high performance.
