Golfers competed in the Class 3A Oswego Sectional boys golf on Monday, Oct. 7, 2024 at Blackberry Oaks Golf Course in Bristol.

Gilligan’s 71 helped the Tigers finish with a 307, a stroke better than Geneva’s 308. Both of those schools are advancing to the IHSA state final tournament Oct. 18-19 at The Den at Fox Creek Golf Course in Bloomington along with sectional champion Hinsdale Central.

Yorkville senior Justin Goebel, who finished second in conference, second at the conference meet and qualified for state for the second straight season in a sectional playoff, is the Record Newspapers boys golf Player of the Year.

Grayslake Central’s Dominic Lucchesi and Carmel captured championships at Monday’s Class 2A Freeport Boys Golf Sectional at Park Hills Golf Course.

The Hinsdale Central boys golf team won the Class 3A Plainfield North Sectional title by eight strokes, while Wheaton Warrenville South and Geneva also earned trips to state.
