High school sports roundup for Tuesday, May 4: Sam Davidowski homers, Madi Reeves K’s 14 as unbeaten Yorkville softball beats Oswego East

SOFTBALL

Yorkville 12, Oswego East 3

The visiting Foxes scored seven runs in the third inning, and Sam Davidowski, 3-for-4 with a double, added a three-run homer in the sixth inning to support winning pitcher Madi Reeves, who struck out 14 for the unbeaten Foxes (10-0, 3-0 Southwest Prairie West). Ellie Alvarez went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI and Lauren Koster and Kayla Tranter each had two RBIs for Yorkville. Morgan Robertson hit a solo homer for Oswego East (7-3, 3-2).

Oswego 13, West Aurora 10

Corrin Kennedy, Marissa Moffet, Sam Worland and Zoe Precup each went 2-for-4, Precup homering for the Panthers.

Rochelle 8, Sandwich 4

Grace Donahue struck out seven batters for Sandwich (0-4), but Rochelle took advantage of five Lady Indians’ errors.

BASEBALL

Yorkville 8, Oswego East 6

Owen Ross went 4-for-4 with two-run homer, his sixth of the season, and a two-run triple as the Foxes bounced back from a loss to the Wolves Monday to take the second game of a three-game series. Connor Corrigan went 2-for-3 with a sacrifice fly and two RBIs, Gavin Dobbels was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Cole Yearsley had a single and scored two runs for Yorkville (10-3, 3-2 Southwest Prairie West).

Jackson Lamboley and Jonas Gulbrandsen each had two hits for Oswego East (2-6, 1-4), which left the bases loaded in the seventh.

Newark 12, Hinckley-Big Rock 6

Lucas Pasakarnis went 3-for-3, leading the Norsemen’s 12-hit attack, and Dalton Reibel struck out six while contributing two hits at the plate. Jared Slivka and Tegan Kruser also had two hits.

Rochelle 7, Plano 1

Nick Baltierrez had two hits, including a double, for Plano (6-5, 0-3 Interstate Eight Conference).

GIRLS TRACK

Kaneland 95, La Salle-Peru 51, Sandwich 38

Sandwich first-place finishers included Claire Roberts in the triple jump (10.32 meters), Claire Allen in the discus (32.83 meters) and the 800-meter relay of Ashley Hintz, Nikki Strawn, Miya Klossing and Georgia Vehe (2:07.9).

BOYS TRACK

Kaneland 80, Sandwich 60, La Salle-Peru 34

Sandwich’s Michael Marrs won the 100-meter dash in 10.98 seconds, just missing the school record by .02, and also won the 200 in 22.44 seconds. Jayden Green won the triple jump, going 13.84 meters, Ethan Weeks the discus with a 36.10-meter effort. Sandwich also won the 800 relay (1:34.64), 1,600 relay (3:45) and 3,200 relay (9:57).

BOYS TENNIS

Yorkville 4, West Aurora 3

Johnny Silva won his singles match and Julian Halsey/Chase Evans, Cal Stillmunkes/Keith Stewart and Peter Standert/Cole Maury their doubles matches for Yorkville.
