Kendall County reports six more deaths due to COVID-19; toll now stands at 149

The Kendall County Health Department reported the deaths of six more county residents due to COVID-19 in its most recent weekly report issued Feb. 10.

The report lists the total number of deaths among county residents since the onset of the pandemic in March of 2020 at 149, six more than the 143 deaths listed in the department’s weekly report issued Feb. 3.

Also according to the report, 636 more county residents became fully vaccinated over the past week, bringing the total number of county residents to be fully vaccinated up to 84,771 or 66.27% of the county’s population.

The test positivity rate for the virus among county residents dropped over the past week from 13.7% as of Feb. 3 to 8.8% as of Feb. 10, the report shows.

Aurora, Oswego, Yorkville lead county in fully vaccinated rates

In a related matter, the Illinois Department of Public Health reported Feb. 9 that 71.81% of the residents residing in the Aurora 60503 ZIP code that extends into Kendall County are fully vaccinated for COVID-19, the highest percentage of any ZIP code area located in the county.

The percentage of the population to be fully vaccinated from other Kendall County area ZIP codes is as follows:

*Oswego 60543: 68.03%

*Yorkville 60560, 67%

*Montgomery 60538, 63.67%

*Plano 60545, 59.32%

*Bristol 60512, 58.95%

*Sandwich 60548, 53.94%

*Newark 60541, 38.36%
