Waubonsee Community College president will retire at end of 2022

Dr. Christine Sobek, president of Waubonsee Community College, announced her intent to retire as president of the college at the end of the 2022 calendar year at the March 16 Board of Trustees meeting.

In an email to employees and students, Dr. Sobek stated, “It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as president for 21 years. We have an amazing board of trustees, students, employees, and community. I am so appreciative of the support, commitment, and dedication I have experienced firsthand throughout all these years.”

Dr. Sobek will submit her formal letter of retirement to the Board of Trustees for approval at the April board meeting, which will be held on April 20. At this time, the Board of Trustees will begin discussing the presidential transition plans.
