LGBTQ pride events scheduled in Geneva, Batavia

Celebration set at Island Park, other events scheduled in June

GENEVA – Fox Valley Family Pride at the Park is scheduled from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. June 5 at the Island Park Pavilion in Geneva, an LGBTQ-affirming event that includes singing, dancing, crafts and story time with special guests including drag queen Belle De Jour, according to a news release.

Being LGBTQ in Geneva will be the subject of a panel discussion from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 13 in the auditorium at Geneva High School, 416 McKinley Ave., Geneva.

A panel of young people from the gay and transgender community in Geneva will discuss their experiences of being queer in Geneva, and how to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for people of diverse sexual and gender identities.

Fox Valley Pride Showcase is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. June 27 at Water Street Studios, 160 S. Water St., Batavia.

Water Street Studios is asking the public to share their expressions of Pride – painting, drawing, sculpture, sketches, photographs, digital media, video, or any other that can be showcased at the event.

There will be a open mic to share your story, read, play, perform, or gain or offer support. The local Indie rock band Pocket Fuzz will perform.
