Kane Clerk announces early voting sites, times for 2021 primary elections

Early voting begins Jan. 14 for Feb. 23 primary election

KANE COUNTY – Kane County Clerk John Cunningham has announced that early voting for the Feb. 23 Consolidated Primary Election will begin on Jan. 14 and continue through Feb. 22.

Voters in Aurora Township, Dundee Township, Elgin Township and the Village of Campton Hills have primary elections.

According to a news release from Cunningham’s office, primary elections will only be held in jurisdictions where the parties elected to have a primary election or the number of filed candidates triggered a primary election.

All Kane County voters will be able to participate in the April 6 Consolidated Election. More information about that election will follow after the Feb. 23 Consolidated Primary Election.

“Local elections are very important, and the Consolidated Primary will allow voters to select candidates in some races in the April 6 Consolidated Election. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Early Voting will help limit crowds on Election Day. For those voters who wish to vote in person, I recommend that you consider voting early,” Cunningham stated.

From Jan. 14-Feb. 5, Early Voting will be available Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. only at the County Clerk’s Office locations, 719 S. Batavia Ave., Bldg. B, Geneva, and 5 E. Downer Pl., Suite F, Aurora.

“We also have the possibility of snow and ice during a February election. Voting early allows you to select the day of choice to go out and vote, rather than running the risk of a snowstorm on Election Day. Residents can vote early at any of the Early Voting centers, including VoteMobile sites, in Kane County based on whatever is most convenient. You can vote wherever you are, not just where you live,” Cunningham stated.

Early Voting expands on Feb. 8 to include more locations in the areas of Kane County where the primary election will be held. Early Voting sites include the Kane County Clerk’s Office locations in Geneva and Aurora; Fire Station No. 93, 5000 Sleepy Hollow Road, Carpentersville; and Elgin Township, 729 S. McLean Blvd., Elgin. The Early Voting sites have some evening and weekend hours.

The VoteMobile will also be located at Jewel Osco, 1952 W. Galena Blvd., Aurora (Feb. 8-10); Prisco Community Center, 150 W. Illinois Ave., Aurora (Feb. 11-12); Jewel Osco, 1660 Larkin Ave., Elgin (Feb. 15-16); and Jewel Osco, 1250 W.Main St., West Dundee (Feb. 17-18) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. A list of dates and times for Early Voting sites is available at kanecountyclerk.org/Elections/Pages/Early-Voting.aspx.

Sample ballots for voters who live in areas where contests will occur in the Feb. 23 election are available at kanecountyclerk.org/Elections/Pages/Voter-Search.aspx. Sample ballots for the April 6 Consolidated Election will not be available until March after the ballot is certified.
