BATAVIA – A fight outside a local bar resulted in an ambulance ride to the hospital for one man, but did not result in any arrests, according to Batavia police reports released after a Freedom of Information Act request.

Police were notified at 2:42 a.m. Nov. 14 when a man walked into the station and said he was in an altercation and asked for an ambulance, according to the report.

The man told police he was in the rear outside area of the Full Moon Bar & Grill, 113 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia, at about 2 a.m. and got into a fight with four or five other men, the report stated.

One man got kicked in the ankle by another man who wore steel-toed boots, the report stated.

The man “was visibly intoxicated and limping,” the report stated. His “knuckles on both hands appeared swollen. I asked (the man) if he wanted an ambulance and (he) affirmed.”

Batavia EMS responded and took him to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva, the report stated.

Three officers responded to the Full Moon and spoke to an employee who was not aware of any fight outside, the report stated.

One of the officers went to Delnor to ask the injured man if he wanted to pursue charges, but he did not, the report stated.

Police filed a Liquor Commission Report, the report stated, but a copy of it was not included with the FOIA request.

Full Moon owner David Mensch said if there was a fight, it didn’t take place anywhere near his property.

“We have monitors and cameras, two of them in back of the buildings and there was nothing on any of my cameras,” Mensch said. “They go 30 to 45 feet away not anywhere near my property. It could have been in the strip mall there.”

Mensch said the bar closes at 2 a.m., but the employees get customers to leave at 1:45 a.m. or 1:50 a.m. so there is no overlap to the official closing time.

“We would have been closed for at least an hour,” Mensch said. “I do not know who he was in a fight with.”
