Pollyanna Brewing Company holding virtual events, teaming up with different businesses

St. Charles business trying to think outside box as pandemic continues

At 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Pollyanna Brewing Company in St. Charles and Tunes for a Minute will host "In This Together" Brew-Aid, a livestream concert fundraising event to benefit the servers, bartenders and hourly staff of six local breweries.

Along with being open for indoor dining now, Pollyanna Brewing Company in St. Charles continues to host virtual events.

The NIU Alumni Association and Pollyanna have teamed up for a virtual tasting event that will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday. Ryan Weidner, co-founder and chief financial officer of Pollyanna Brewing Company, is a alum of Northern Illinois University.

In 2019, the NIU Alumni Association and Pollyanna teamed up to create the appropriately named Dawgma beer. NIU’s mascot is a Huskie dog.

”It’s a beer we make just for them,” Weidner said.

A portion of the beer sales go back to the NIU Alumni Association. Registration for the event includes two Dawgma and two Dreamsicle Flurries with a Dawgma pint glass and NIU koozie.

Those who want to participate in Saturday’s Zoom call can pick up their virtual Dawgma bundle from any Pollyanna location. For questions and registration information, contact Dana King at dking1@niu.edu or 815-753-5421.

Pollyanna also has teamed up with the esteemed Alinea restaurant in Chicago.

“They’re obviously a very high end Chicago restaurant and they’ve been seeking out locations throughout the suburbs to do this Alinea To Go concept that they’ve kind of expanded on,” Weidner said. “They sought out somebody in St. Charles and I guess they knew of us, so they reached out to us and we were more than happy to oblige. It’s a wonderful tie-in, for sure.”

Pollyanna St. Charles will be Alinea’s To-Go pick-up location this weekend. To order, go to exploretock.com/alinea/experience/253231/st-charles-pick-up-the-alinea-group-to-go?date=2021-01-31&size=2&time=12%3A00.

At the same time, they can order Pollyanna’s beer to go at Pollyanna’s website, pollyannabrewing.com.

“We’re getting a lot of peripheral beer sales,” Weidner said. “We’ve had dozens and dozens of orders for four-packs or cases of beer or whatever they’re buying.”

Pollyanna is also teaming up with Kimmer’s Ice Cream in St. Charles to create beer and ice cream bundles to enjoy at home. More information is available by going to Pollyanna’s Facebook page, facebook.com/pollyannabrewingstcharles.

As the pandemic continues, Pollyanna Brewing Company has been trying to think outside of the box.

“We’re trying to be as innovative as we can while we’re all waiting for things to turn back to normal,” Weidner said.
