After successfully defending his Class 2A state title, as well as posting an 18-hole average score of 69.4 in his senior season, Marmion senior Regan Konen has been named the 2024 Kane County Chronicle boys golf Player of the Year. Plus, selections for the All-Area team.
Marmion senior Regan Konen, who used a career-best 2-under 69 in the second round to tie for the Class 2A lead, secured his second individual state title after beating out a duo of Wheaton Academy golfers in the second playoff hole at Weibring Golf Club.
Ottawa High School’s wait for sporting glory is over, as the boys golf team won the Class 2A final for the school's first state title. Burlington Central was third, while Marmion's Regan Konen won a three-man playoff to repeat as Class 2A individual champion.
After taking the Class 2A boys golf individual title last year, Marmion senior Regan Konen is looking to repeat, as well as help his team to a title. That, plus St. Charles North's girls team hopes to shine in first state trip since winning it all in 2018.

Gilligan’s 71 helped the Tigers finish with a 307, a stroke better than Geneva’s 308. Both of those schools are advancing to the IHSA state final tournament Oct. 18-19 at The Den at Fox Creek Golf Course in Bloomington along with sectional champion Hinsdale Central.
The Nazareth, Marmion and Lemont boys golf teams advanced to state out of the Class 2A Lemont Sectional on Monday, while Marmion's Regan Konen was the medalist with a 68.
The Ottawa boys golf team — led by individual champion Chandler Creedon — won its sixth straight regional title at Wednesday's Class 2A La Salle-Peru Regional at Senica's Oak Ridge Golf Club. Burlington Central and Mendota also advanced to next week's Kaneland Sectional.
