Joliet Focus

Our community, your experience.

The city of Joliet has its own historic landscape, which includes drawbridges and its Route 66 heritage. With that in mind, Joliet Focus will host “Our Community, Your Experience” exhibit at the Joliet Area Historical Museum to showcase the wide and diverse experience of living in Joliet. The show opens Oct. 20 and continues through Dec. 31. A reception is being planned for early December.

The Joliet Focus exhibit will celebrate the everyday life of the Joliet community from the vantage point of selected photographs uploaded to Shaw Media’s Joliet Focus application throughout the past year. The photography will be juxtaposed with loaned artwork from a variety of Joliet-based artists with emphasis on Black artists and creators of art rooted in African culture. This artwork will showcase naturally talented artists, graduates and current students of art and design. Mediums include acrylics, pastels, pencil, paint, photography and coloring books.
