Ottawa church to serve community meal Oct. 12

"Second best chili" is a staple on Baumgartner Cheese Store and Tavern's menu, served in a cup or bowl. Why second best? "We don't want to argue with anybody, what you grew up eating is what you're going to like the most," co-owner Chris Soukup said.

Open Table United Church of Christ will serve a free community meal at noon Sunday, Oct. 12.

The meal includes chili, cornbread, and dessert. Attendees are encouraged to use the church’s Jackson Street entrance.

Open Table United Church of Christ is located at 910 Columbus St. in Ottawa.
