Ottawa’s DAR chapter participates in Grand Ridge parade

Parade appearance highlights chapter’s legacy ahead of 130th anniversary

Members of the Illini Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) in Ottawa took part in the Grand Ridge Parade on Sunday, Aug. 17.

Founded in 1890, DAR is a women’s service organization dedicated to promoting historic preservation, education, patriotism, and honoring veterans.

The Illini Chapter, established in Ottawa on May 29, 1896, will mark its 130th anniversary in May 2026.
