Postseason ends for Ottawa and Streator: In the IHSA State Finals at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington, the Pirate Poms and Streatorettes failed to advance from Friday’s preliminary round.

Streator, which was making its fourth consecutive trip to state, finished 18th with a score of 80.00 in Class 1A, while Ottawa — in its fifth straight appearance —placed 26th in 2A with a score of 79.04.

The top 12 teams in each class advanced to Saturday’s finals.

Boys basketball

Dwight 56, Woodland 45: In the consolation championship of the 98th Tri-County Conference Tournament, the Warriors fell behind 21-7 after one quarter in the loss to the Trojans.

Jaron Follmer led Woodland with 15 points with Nolan Price adding nine. Connor Dodge and Nick Plesko were named to the all-tournament team.

Serena 52, Gardner-South Wilmington 41: At Gardner, the Huskers improved to 13-12 on the season with the win over the Panthers

Somonauk 54, Newark 37: At Somonauk, the Bobcats (9-14, 4-4) gave the Norsemen (13-11, 7-1) their first Little Ten Conference loss.

Silas Johnson led Somonauk with 19 points, while Brock Sexton and Weston Hannibal each scored 12.

Earlville 68, LaMoille 46: At Earlville, the Red Raiders topped the Lions in the LTC game to improve to 9-14 overall and 6-3 in the league.

Gavin Guelde had 19 points for Earlville, with Easton Fruit recording 16 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists and four steals, and Adam Waite had 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Leland 60, DePue 49: At Leland, the Panthers defeated the Little Giants to move to 9-12 overall and 3-6 in the LTC.

El Paso-Gridley 67, Fieldcrest 56: At El Paso, the Knights fell in the Heart of Illinois Conference game to the Titans.

Eddie Lorton led Fieldcrest with 16 points, with Layten Gerdes and Jordan Heider each netting 14.

Heyworth 62, Flanagan-Cornell 52: At Heyworth, the Falcons dropped the HOIC contest to the Hornets.
