George Lezotte Jr.

George F. Lezotte Jr., 80, of Fleming Island, Fla., and formerly of Kankakee, passed away March 5, 2017, at his home, after a lengthy illness.

He was born March 16, 1936, in Kankakee, the son of George F. Sr. and Lucille (Jarvis) Lezotte.

George married Cheryl Kravat on June 20, 1968, in Kankakee. She preceded him in death on Dec. 23, 2004.

He was a veteran of the National Guard, serving as sergeant first class. George retired as lieutenant from the Kankakee City Police Department. He also was a State of Illinois retiree.

George enjoyed NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt Jr., and was an avid wrestling fan. Spending time with family and friends meant the most to him -- where lots of laughs were shared.

Surviving are his sister, Carol Moody, of Indianapolis, and his twin sister, Barbara Eastman, of Bradley; three sons, Robert (Chris) Lezotte, of Bourbonnais, John (Paula) Lezotte, of Bradley, and Larry (Kim) Lezotte, of Kankakee; two daughters, Chris (Russ) Mather, of Kankakee, and Nancy (Lindsay) Lezotte, of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Russell; and three sisters, Lois, Lynn and Lil.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the 11 a.m. memorial service at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. Inurnment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum in Bourbonnais.
