Visitation for James L. Landis, 80, of Bourbonnais, will be from 1 p.m. Sunday until the 4 p.m. funeral services at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. Deacon Patrick Skelly will officiate.
Entombment will be Monday in All Saints Mausoelum, Bourbonnais. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society. He died Tuesday (Feb. 1, 2011) at Northwestern University Hospital in Chicago.
Mr. Landis was a retired printer from G&G Printing in Bradley. He formerly worked at Amberg File and Index Company and taught the organ. He was born Dec. 30, 1930, in Cullom, the son of Lewis and Gladys Lee Landis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Moose. He enjoyed flower gardening, woodworking, ballroom dancing and playing the organ and harmonica. Jim had a good sense of humor and enjoyed telling jokes.
Surviving are his wife, the former Lucille M. Ravens Etzel, of Bourbonnais, whom he married May 16, 1987, in Kankakee; two stepsons and one stepdaughter-in-law, Mark and Monica Etzel, of Naperville, and Jay Etzel, of Bourbonnais; one stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Lori and Ralph Bartels, of Manteno; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Fern Begue, of New Orleans, La., and Geraldine Nantista, of Bourbonnais; and two brothers, Lloyd Landis, of Naples, Fla., and Bruce Landis, of Williston, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Jeannette Hahn and Evelyn Blacton; and one brother, Dillard Landis.
