First version anonymous
When the Frankenstein novel debuted, Shelley was 20 and the author was listed as anonymous. Her name appeared in the second edition published in Paris in 1823.

Frankenstein’s monster is given no name in the book but referred to only as “creature,’’ “monster,” “fiend,” “wretch,” “vile insect,” “demon,” “being” or “it.”
Subject of many movies
Frankenstein has inspired more than 130 films, starting with the silent Frankenstein in 1910.
