A new 7,300-square-foot Fastenal Co. store is being constructed along South Kinzie Avenue in Bradley and is expected to be ready for customers by early September.
Fady Guirguis, general manager of the existing 7,000-square-foot store at 690 S. Washington Ave., Bradley, said sitework began several weeks ago.
Once constructed, the Kinzie location will replace the South Washington store.
The company had been looking for a new site for about two years, and purchased the roughly two-acre site a year ago.
"It's a better location, and it will allow us to better take care of our customers," Guirguis said. And the location has plenty of customers. He said the location has about 1,000 customers on account.
While Fastenal has been in the community for many years, it might not be well known to many residents.
Fastenal is an industrial and construction wholesale supply company. It provides a wide range of products from material handling and packaging; nuts, bolts and screws; cutting tools; electrical supplies; janitorial supplies; welding product; paints; plumbing; lighting; and heating/air conditioning materials. The Bradley location generally serves an area ranging from Joliet, to Frankfort, to Watseka and to the Indiana state line. Including Guirguis, the location has a staff of five.
The Winona, Minn.-based company, founded in 1967, has about 2,700 stores throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe.

Gravina 801 Italian Cuisine, 801 W. Broadway St., Bradley, closed Monday. According to the businesses' Facebook page, the kitchen will remain open for special event catering.
Property owner Ramon Diaz, of Bradley, said the restaurant had been operated by Scott Zizic, owner of the Bennett-Curtis House in Grant Park, but he learned Monday that Zizic was no longer going to manage the location.
Zizic had been operating the restaurant since April 1, 2015. Prior to Zizic, Diaz operated the restaurant.
Zizic said people can redeem Gravina gift certificates at Bennett-Curtis.
He said the catering business will continue.
"It's simply due to a lack of business. There is big saturation right now in the restaurant business. There are more people eating into the pie, but the pie is not getting any bigger."
Diaz now operates La Villetta at the Elks and recently opened Bombshell Bar & Grill in Kankakee.
"I'm not sure what I'll do," he said of the Broadway location. "I've been cleaning there this week, and some people have expressed an interest, but I don't know. I guess I'm open to anything right now."
