<strong>East Court Street Currency under new ownership</strong>

<strong>East Court Street Currency</strong> at 1550 E. Court St. in Kankakee is under the new ownership of Mo’nique Smith, who took over the business less than a month ago.

“It’s a currency and a Western Union,” Smith said. “[People] can pay their bills here — ComEd, Xfinity, [Aqua] water — get direct deposit, license plate stickers, copy and fax.”

East Court Street Currency also has check cashing services, mail box rental, mail orders and Western Union services, including sending money to all countries. Western Union also offers financial services.

East Court Street Currency is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday (through Oct. 1). After Oct. 1, the store will be closed on the weekends.
