Kankakee Chapter’s first NSDAR Distinguished Citizen Medal Ceremony was held on Saturday, Jan. 17.

Vietnam veterans Dorothy Bendix and William Terrill received the NSDAR Distinguished Citizen Medal for their service and volunteer work in the community.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution awards the medal to citizens who demonstrate honor, service, courage, leadership, and patriotism. Each chapter can nominate two recipients annually.
