Early voting begins Thursday in DeKalb County for April 6 consolidated election

Satellite early voting locations in DeKalb Township, Kirkland, Sandwich open March 22

SYCAMORE – Early voting has now begun in DeKalb County for the upcoming consolidated election next month.

DeKalb County Clerk Doug Johnson said Thursday there have been 11 early voting ballots cast as of about 1:45 p.m. Thursday at the county legislative center, 200 N. Main St. in Sycamore, for the April 6 election. He wrote his office also has received 65 requests for vote by mail ballots so far.

“We are sending them out today,” Johnson wrote.

Early voting at the Sycamore location will be open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday until March 19. From March 22 through March 26, it’ll be open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and noon to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.

The Sycamore location also will be open 9 a.m. to noon March 27 and noon to 4 p.m. March 28. It also will be open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 29 and March 31, along with noon to 7 p.m. on March 30 and April 1.

Other hours for the Sycamore early voting location are as follows:

• 8:30 a.m. to noon April 2

• 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 3

• 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. April 5

Satellite early voting sites at the DeKalb Township Building, 2323 S. Fourth St. in DeKalb; Kirkland Village Hall, 511 W. Main St. in Kirkland; and Sandwich Fire Station, 310 E. Railroad St. in Sandwich, open to the public starting March 22. The hours for those locations are as follows:

• 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 22, March 26 and March 29

• Noon to 7 p.m. March 24 and March 31

• 9 a.m. to noon March 27

• Noon to 4 p.m. March 28

The Northern Illinois University Holmes Student Center also will be open as an early voting location from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 30, March 31 and April 1.

The last day to register to vote for the consolidated election is March 9. Grace period is from March 10 through April 5. Illinois residents can check to see if they are registered to vote at ova.elections.il.gov/RegistrationLookup.aspx.

All early and grace period voting sites are available to all DeKalb County voters, according to the clerk’s office.

The county clerk’s office must receive vote by mail applications at least five days before any election. All returned ballots must be postmarked on for before the day of the election and received by the county no later than 14 days after the election.
