Genoa-Kingston advanced to the second round of its own regional at home in Genoa on Saturday with a 56-26 win over Richmond-Burton.
Bryce Boylen led the Cogs with 16 points in the postseason victory.

East Dubuque 55, Kaneland 38: At Shabbona, the Knights took an early lead but flagged from the second quarter forward in an Indian Creek Shootout loss.
Roanoke-Benson 51, Indian Creek 40: At Shabbona, the Timberwolves fell to the Rockets at home as part of the Indian Creek Shootout.
DeKalb 73, Bloomington 64: At Bloomington, the Barbs played to a convincing win away from home.
Four scorers reached double-digit scoring for DeKalb in an impressive team effort.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Northern Illinois 69, Buffalo 64: At DeKalb, the Huskies came out on top in overtime against the Bulls at home in the Convocation Center.
Janae Poisson led the way with 26 points for NIU, while A’Jah Davis turned in another double-double with 19 points and a whopping 21 rebounds.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Toledo 100, Northern Illinois 72: At DeKalb, the Huskies fell at home to an offensive onslaught from Toledo in a MAC loss.
Keshawn Williams had a team-high 19 points for NIU (6-16, 3-9), Kaleb Thornton added a career-high 18 points, Anthony Crump scored 12 and Trendon Hankerson also hit double-digits with 10 points.
WRESTLING
Class 3A Conant Sectional: At Hoffman Estates, DeKalb advanced 12 individuals to the state championship, four of whom won their weight classes outright.
Tommy Curran (145 pounds), Luke Schmerbach (170), Bradley Gillum (182) and Gavin Engh (220) were individual champs for the Barbs, while Kaden Klapprodt (106), Rory Burright (113), Daniel Aranda (120), Danny Curran (132), Austin Martin (138), Damien Lopez (152), Caleb Wall (160) and Bryson Buhk (195) all advanced by finishing in the top four of their respective classes.
GIRLS BOWLING
Belvidere Sectional: At Belvidere, Sycamore advanced to state by finishing fourth out of 12 teams in the sectional round.
The Spartans scored 5443 pins as a team, led by Kiara Wittenberg’s team-high series of 1159. Brandi Stover (1108), Kaitlyn Ryder (1094), Maxine Lathrop (1038) and Trista Fioretto (1044) will join Wittenberg at the state finals.
TRACK AND FIELD
Kaneland’s Eli Pflipsen set a personal record by two feet to win the King of the Ring bracket in Burlington.
His distance of 15.32 meters (50 feet, 3 inches) was good enough to win the event and was the 14th longest throw in school history.
