Board game night returns to DeKalb library

A group of board-game enthusiasts enjoy playing “Scrabble” Wednesday night during the DeKalb Public Library’s Family Game Night. DeKalb resident and attendee Sarah Ott, 23, said she prefers traditional board games to new games. “The older ones are simpler so there’s more room for variation,” Ott said. “The more complicated the rules, the more static the game is.” Chronicle photo KATE WEBER

The DeKalb Public Library will host an evening of board games and conversation at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, in the Nancy D. Castle Collaboration Studio.

Attendees can play classic games such as chess, Scrabble, Pictionary, Monopoly and Jenga, or try something new. Games will be provided, and participants are welcome to bring their own.

The event is free and open to adults. No registration is required. For more information, contact Emily at emilyb@dkpl.org or 815-756-9568, ext. 2150.
