DeKalb man charged with criminal sexual abuse of a minor

DeKalb man allegedly inappropriately touched minor in Sycamore incident from 2017 to 2018

SYCAMORE - A DeKalb man is facing charges after Sycamore police allege he sexually abused a minor under 13 between the months of August 2017 and March 2018.

Aaron E. Smith Jr., 22, of the 400 block of Devonaire Parkway in DeKalb, is charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse to a child under 13, a Class 2 felony. If convicted, he could face up to seven years in prison and fines up to $25,000.

According to police reports, Smith Jr. was arrested on a warrant by Sycamore police May 27 on the charges after a complaint was made that day.

According to DeKalb County court records, Smith Jr. allegedly touched the breast of the victim, who was under 13 years of age, and was sexually aroused. The allegations stem from 2017 to 2018.

Smith Jr. will next appear before a DeKalb County judge for a bond hearing.
