Getting to know .... Hall coach Darcy Earley

Name: Darcy Earley.

School: Hall High School.

How many years at your school: This is my 18th year.

What sports do you coach: Head volleyball coach.

Do you teach at the school: Yes, I teach physical education and fitness for life unified P.E.

What’s the best part of coaching at your school: Getting to help students learn the game and getting to know the students better.

Why do you coach: To help others reach their goals and to make them better people, hopefully.

What have been some of your most memorable moments: As an assistant coach when we made it to the state championships and got fourth place in 2005. 

Do you have any other previous coaching positions: Yes, I have been coaching more than half of my life. I have coached softball, basketball, track, and volleyball at all levels and I did coach soccer at Hall for a couple of years as well. I was the head volleyball and softball coach at Aurora University as my first job after grad school. I left to start a family with my husband and went back to school to get another teaching degree in physical education. I coached at Geneseo while I student-taught for my high school teaching endorsement and was hired for the JV softball coaching position. I came to Hall in 2003 to teach PE and coach softball and assistant coach volleyball. I gave up softball so I could coach basketball and volleyball and be home in the spring to watch my children, so my husband could coach track at Annawan/Wethersfield in the spring. I gave up basketball when my oldest child entered high school so I could watch my children play in their extra curricular activities. 

High school/college you went to: Cambridge High School, Augustana College B.A., Western Illinois University M.S. in PE/Sport Management and St. Ambrose University B.Ed.

Your playing background: I played volleyball, basketball, track and travel softball in high school. I played four years of varsity basketball & track and three years of varsity volleyball. Played varsity basketball and softball at Augustana College all four years and played varsity volleyball also my junior and senior years.
