Bureau County Genealogical Society sets ‘remember when’ program for Dec. 2

BCGS will be closed Dec. 6 to Jan. 3

The Bureau County Genealogical Society invites the public to the combined November/December meeting 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at the Society Library, 629 South Main St.

The speaker will be Carol Chandler, a long-time member of the Lee County Historical and Genealogical Society. She will be there to help the audience wander down the streets of memory of not too distant times when children draped tents over clotheslines and mothers canned enough food to last through the winters. Her presentation is meant to be a visit back to simpler times.

Chandler is a retired ER nurse, a graduate of Dixon High School, Sauk Valley College and Clark College in Iowa. She loves history and genealogy. Those attending the program are asked to wear a face mask.

BCGS will be closed beginning Monday, Dec. 6, to Monday, Jan. 3, to celebrate the holidays. Special appointments can be arranged during that time by calling 815-875-8491.
