Festival 56 will present vocal trio: The Manhattan Dolls ‘Sentimental Journey’

Concerts are scheduled for Oct. 22-23

PRINCETON — Festival 56 will present the three-part female vocal trio The Manhattan Dolls in concert with “Sentimental Journey” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22.

This heartfelt performance will feature music from the 30s and 40s in the close-harmony style of the Andrews Sisters. You’ll be taken back to the World War II era with songs like “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” “In the Mood,” the Dolls’ famous “Military Salute” and other patriotic favorites. The Manhattan Dolls are an international touring trio founded by and featuring Festival 56′s very own Heather Stricker. You’ll remember Heather as Victoria in “The Business of Passion” (Season 2, 2005) and Princess Winifred in “Once Upon A Mattress” (Season 4, 2007).

Do you prefer music of a different era? Check out The Manhattan Dolls “Rockin’ with The Dolls,” music of the 50s and 60s, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23.

Both performances are at The Grace Theater, 316 S. Main Street in Princeton. Tickets are $25 and available online at festival56.com or by calling the box office at 815-879-5656. The box office will be opening soon. Check their Facebook page for hours.

The cast of The Manhattan Dolls “Sentimental Journey” includes Heather Stricker, Vanessa Helms and Chelsee Hicks.

This production is sponsored by The Flats at Elm Place and is partially supported by a grant from The Illinois Arts Council Agency and The National Endowment for the Arts.
